East African Business Week (Kampala) John David 6 June 2011 Kisumu, Kenya — The World Bank has called on the Kenyan government to hasten expansion of Kisumu Airport on the shores of lake victorie, western Kenya to accommodate larger aircraft, saying further delay could lead to massive loss of business opportunities. The facility sits at a strategic location hence direct flights from the airport could see Kenya rake maximum gains in business from exports to the lucrative markets in Europe and Asia, World Bank senior advisor Dr Anil Bhandari said.

Luanda — The Mozambican Parliament speaker, Verónica Macamo Dlhovo, left Monday for Angola’s central Benguela province, as part of her five-day visit to Angola since Friday.

Accompanied by the second deputy speaker of the Angolan Parliament, Joana Lina, and other members of the Mozambican and local law houses, Verónica Macamo said she will learn about the region’s socio-economic reality.

Later on, the delegation will proceed to Lubango, capital city of southern Huila province, to attend the ongoing 29th plenary session of the Parliamentary Forum of the Southern Africa Development Communitiy (SADC) until June 12.

Verónica Mucamo was on Monday received in audience by Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, whom she presented courtesy greetings.
