Dar Es Salaam — Young tennis players from Tanzania and Kenya are expected to converge at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club next week for this year’s Tango Open Junior tournament.
The national tennis team’s head coach, Salum Mvita, said yesterday that the tournament will involve young players from Nairobi, Mombasa, Arusha and hosts Dar es Salaam.
“The championship is strictly for players aged between 18 and 8. It is a two-day event and will take place at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club from June 18-19,” he said.
Mvita said the tournament was aimed at giving then youth an ideal opportunity to display their skills, share experience and cement relationship among the youth in East Africa.
Speaking at the same occasion, the event’s sponsor, Joseph Tango said he has set aside handsome prizes for winners in every category. He fell short of naming the awards.
