Luanda — Angolan Ombudsman, Paulo Tjipilica, left Luanda Monday for northern Uíge province, for a two-day visit intended to check the situation of protection of human rights and citizens guarantees in the region.
Speaking to Angop at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport before leaving, Paulo Tjipilica said Uige has been much interpellant, especially in relation to concerns that reach the organ he leads, even by telephone.
“We are going to see what happens in terms of protection of rights and freedom of citizens who complain, about some alleged injustices and violation of their their rights,” said the Ombudsman.
Meanwhile, Pulo Tjipilica said that during his stay in the region, he will meet with inmates, under stipulated principle, not only at the level of protection of rights to freedom and guarantees of citizens, but also concerning the statute of the Organic Law on the Ombudsman’s Office.
Visits to local jails, and talks with provincial Government officials, chieftains and judicial entities, are part of the Ombudsman’s visiting programme.
