Pepe Reina admits he ‘never wanted to go’ & is ‘very happy’ at Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has reaffirmed his commitment to the club and denied that he had ever considered leaving.

After a tough start to the season, which saw Liverpool drop dangerously close to the bottom of the table and eventually resulted in Roy Hodgson’s sacking, the club bounced back in the second half of the campaign to finish sixth, but throughout the year the Spanish shot-stopper had been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, the former Barcelona and Villarreal man has stated that leaving Anfield had not crossed his mind and he is focused on improving the team’s fortunes.

Speaking to Marca, Reina said: “I am happy at Liverpool. It is true we have had a great end to the year, but we have to keep growing.

“I am very happy and so is my family. I’ve never wanted to go.”
