A new mother-child centre was inaugurated Tuesday, in Kilamba Kiaxi district, Luanda city, by the Angolan Health minister, José Vieira Dias Van-Dúnem.
During the inauguration ceremony, the minister said that the new health infrastructure aims at reducing crowd of patients going to the big health centres in the country’s capital city.
The government official added that the centre was built with the objective to delivering good services to local people, according to Luanda’s demographic growth.
The infrastructure was built by a Chinese company “China Jiangsu!”, under the public investment programme (PIP) of the provincial Luanda government, in an area of 4.400 square metres, since May 2009.
The centre has capacity for 90 bedrooms, half of them reserved for paediatric and another for motherly infant, as well as divisions for other health services.
The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by Luanda deputy governor for social area, Jovelina Imperial, the provincial health director, Isabel Massokolo, district entities and guests.
