Liberian Christians have been called upon to strive to be “doers” and not just idle participants in the life of their church, community or nation. The call was made by Reverend Kortu K. Brown, pastor of New Water in the Desert Assembly on Sunday, May 29, 2011 when he spoke at the Induction Ceremony of the Church Brotherhood Department in Brewerville.

Speaking on the theme: “The Consequence of Doing Nothing” with Scripture Text from St. Matthew 25:41-46, Rev. Brown admonished the newly inducted officials to work for their right standing in Heaven on the Day of Judgment by engaging in a life of (1) Self-denial and contempt for worldliness, (2) love for the least of the brethren and (3) doing what you can for the sake of Christ.

The General Overseer of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church spoke about those who have neglected their service to God and humanity busying themselves with the affairs of this world. The preacher used,”BUSY” as an acronym meaning “Being Under Satan Yoke”

Reverend Brown spoke about the hindrances to the work of God in Liberia citing as an example, the current state of affairs of the Liberian Council of Churches (LCC).

He called on the leaders of the Liberian Council of Churches to “remove hindrances posed to the Council effectiveness and efficiency in this critical time of our national life by returning to its Constitution, Practices and Traditions thereby enabling the Liberian Council of Churches to play her prophetic and pastoral role as the country approaches Presidential and Legislative Elections in October 2011”.

The Church has a leadership role, he said, but it must lead by example by resolving its internal conflicts and setting the pace for healing and reconciliation in the country. Reverend Brown challenged Christians to be different by setting good examples.

Each Christian has two reasons to act or not to act but there was a consequence of doing nothing. Work for God and humanity and be rewarded or neglect your duties and be punished on judgment day, reverend Brown added. The wheels of justice in Heaven will be impartial – you’re either on the right hand or on the left hand on judgment day.

He called on those working on implementing the TRC report to ensure that justice is done in order to stabilize the country. How many sides of justice do you have in your home, work place, community or nation? he quipped his audience.

Those installed were Brother Benedict Gray- President, Brother Jaa-tumah Armah – 1st Vice President, Brother Jackson Koryeyon – 2nd Vice President, Brother Moses Sando – Secretary, Brother Robert Semgblueh – Assistant Secretary, and Brother Anthony Amara –Chaplain.
