President Dos Santos Hails Special Economic Zone

    Luanda — The Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos, praised Friday the opening of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), considering “it represents a step forward on the long road of re-industrialisation of our country”.

    “It should be noted with satisfaction”, said the Head of State at the opening of the Special Economic Zone, located in Viana district, in Luanda.

    “It is a historic landmark for the development of national economy and the revival of domestic production of goods and services”, he added, noting that it is not an isolated act.

    “Other similar initiatives are underway in the industrial centres of Futila (Cabinda), Soyo (Zaire), Catumbela (Benguela), the Matala (Huila), mining area of the industrial of Cassinga (Huila) and agro-industrial perimeter of the Pungo a Ndongo (Malange)”, he stressed.

    In the Special Economic Zone were built factories of paint, fibre optic cables, PVC tubes, wires seals, and among others.

    The ceremony was witnessed by members of the Executive, Members of Parliament and other relevant officials.
