Swansea’s hat-trick hero Scott Sinclair has paid tribute to manager Brendan Rodgers after the Welsh side saw off the challenge of Reading in the Championship playoff final at Wembley on Monday.

The Swans took a 3-0 lead into half-time before Reading fought back to reduce the deficit to a solitary goal. Sinclair converted from the spot in the second half to ensure that Premier League football will be heading to Wales for the first time.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Sinclair was elated, and said of his manager: “He’s been a massive credit to the club. All the credit goes to the manager, he’s been exceptional, he’s helped us out and he believes in the team.”

Swansea’s other goalscorer was Stephen Dobbie, who played in the corresponding fixture last year with Blackpool, and he was clear on what it meant to make history: “To be part of this team and be the first Welsh side in the Premier League is an honour.”
