BUSIA first ever half marathon race on June 12 has attracted international runners from neighbouring Uganda. Athletics Kenya (AK) western branch chairman, Henry Alukhaba said the 21km event will feature both men and women with the winner in each category taking home Sh100,000. Alukhaba said there will also be 10km race for locals and winners in the men and women’s events will receive Sh40,000. He said Coca Cola are the main sponsors with Kenya Commercial Bank,
Khetia Super Market, CDF Amagoro Constituency, Mareba Chemist Nambale and Border Palace Hotel Busia as co-sponsors.
Alukhaba said the deadline for registration will be on June 6 and participants in half marathon will part with Sh500 and Sh300 for the 10km runners. He said athletes can register at Khetia supermarket in Busia, KCB Busia, Mareba Chemist Nambale or district youth offices in Busia County.
