The Mombasa Sports Club was the place to be last weekend as rugby lovers at the Coast converged to witness the hottest new must-watch sports event; the Bamburi Super Series. This is a tournament that sees various rugby sides formed from the best players in the country.
The contest on show in Mombasa was the Nguvu Sharks playing against the Coastal Bulls. The Sharks are a team formed from the university sides after a Tanzanian team, the Twigas, withdrew from the tournament at the last minute. The Coastal Bulls comprises Coast-based rugby players.
Although Coastal Bulls lost to Nguvu Sharks 22-0, their coach Oliver Onyango, who is a manager at the Central Bank, was optimistic about their success in future.
