The Kano State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria has honoured outgoing Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, with an award for his outstanding performance.

CAN chairman, Bishop Ransome Bello, said it was in appreciation of the governor’s enviable accomplishments, sincerity and good relationship with the people residing in the state.

Presenting the award to the governor in his office, Bello said, “You are leaving behind a legacy of peace which is a challenge to any incoming government.”

The CAN boss said it was gratifying that the governor was ending his tenure in office successfully.

While receiving the award, Shekarau thanked the leadership of the Christian community for supporting his administration in the past eight years and for helping to maintain peace in the state.

He said co-existence was important to any plan of action by every leadership, expressing hope that successive administrations in the state would do more to guarantee tranquility in the state.

He thanked CAN for honouring him and promised to continue to identify with any organisation committed to peace in whatever capacity he finds himself in the future.
