Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville remains hopeful that David Beckham will be able to play in his testimonial later this month.

Members of some of the club’s trophy-winning sides in the last 15 years will line up together at Old Trafford, with Nicky Butt, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes all expected to be involved.

There had been fears that the LA Galaxy midfielder may not have been able to make it to the game, but the former Red Devils full-back remains positive about the situation.

“I am in contact with David,” Neville said, according to the Daily Mail.

“It is looking positive but we still have a couple of things to sort out.

“Hopefully it will be an enjoyable game for the fans and, four days before Wembley, it will be like a celebration and send-off for the lads who have done so well this season.”
