Brighton manager Gus Poyet rules himself out of West Ham job

Brighton‘s Gus Poyet has become the latest manager to rule himself out of the running to become the new West Ham boss.

The Uruguayan, who won the League One title with the Seagulls this season, has reportedly interested several high-profile clubs and has stated his desire to manage former side Chelsea one day.

However, the former Premier League star, who has now been linked with the West Ham job following Avram Grant’s dismissal, says that he is going nowhere.

“There has been no approach and I can promise I will never apply for a job when I am with another club, especially with a club like Brighton where I am so happy,” Poyet was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

“We are going places, we are moving to a new stadium and a new division with my style of football, so it would be really silly on my part to apply for anything else.”

Poyet admitted that he knows he will be in demand following his success on the south coast, but remains fully focused on his current job.

“I think I will be named for a few teams when they lose a manager, so I have to keep concentrating on what I am doing,” he said.

“When things come, I will analyse them with the people at the club, with the chairman and with my staff.”
