Manchester United have rested Edwin van der Sar for the crucial game against Blackburn which could see Sir Alex Ferguson’s side secure their 19^th league title.

If United fail to win today the title could go down to the last day when they host Blackpool at Old Trafford.

Darren Fletcher came through a reserve game in mid-week but today’s game has come too early for the Scottish midfielder.

Meanwhile, Blackburn starlet Phil Jones was forced off against West Ham with a back injury though has recovered in time to start against the league leaders.

On-loan Rovers striker Mame Biram-Diouf is ineligible to face his parent club so Jason Roberts is given a starting berth.

Blackburn will be looking to avenge the previous meeting when United won 7-1 at Old Trafford with Dimitar Berbatov scoring five, though the omens are not good for Steve Kean’s men who have not beaten Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in nine meetings.
