Dar Es Salaam — After making it into the quarterfinals of this year’s Kili Taifa Cup tournament, Ilala now believe they have what it takes to snatch the title.
Ilala, one of Dar es Salaam region’s three districts, is regarded as a region, according to the rules and regulations governing the annual tournament.
Ilala team coach Hassan Banyai said yesterday that his players were in high spirits, looking forward to maintaining their fairy-tale run in the quarters that open on May 22 at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium in Arusha. Banyai said his team would start camp at Lamada Hotel tomorrow to shape up for the quarterfinal stage.
Temeke and Kinondoni, the other districts in Dar es Salaam, bowed out of the championship earlier this week. Other teams that have sailed through include: Ruvuma, Mbeya, national U-23, Kagera, Mwanza, Arusha and defending champions Singida.
