Mogadishu — Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam, the speaker of Somali parliament on Tuesday vehemently denounced government’s move of stopping some of Somali parliamentarians from traveling abroad.
Speaking to the journalists in the Somali capital, the parliament speaker said that it’s not good something wrong to be corrected with another wring.
He called for all Somali government officials to abide by the law. Mr. Adam spelled out that the government is needed to free stopped parliamentarians as soon as possible.
The statement of the speaker of parliament comes as police at Mogadishu’s Adan Ade international airport pulled 50 Somali lawmakers from airline flight minutes before taking off to Nairobi, the capital of neighboring Kenya.
Awad Ahmed Hasharo, a Somali MP, told reporters in the airport that some of the parliamentarians, who were from parliament’s electoral committee, were called upon to attend a workshop in Nairobi.
