Mogadishu — At least one person has been killed and 7 others injured after two roadside bombings attacked on convey escorting government official in the center of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, officials said.
The roadside bombs exploded as convey escorting, Moallim Abdulle, the district commissioner of Dharkenley, was traveling in the same district.
In an interview with Shabelle Media Network, Moallim Abdulle said that the bomb attacks were botched attempts to kill him.
He accused Al shabaab, which the United States alleges to be al Qaeda’s proxy in the horn of Africa nation, of masterminding the attacks.
He said that one of his special bodyguards was badly injured in what he called the terrorist twin bombings.
All movements in the area including businesses, buses and ordinary people were put on hold by the government a short period of minutes after the attacks.
