Members of the PDP who have just won election in Cross River State will be kept under close watch by the party hierarchy to ensure that they deliver their electoral promises, state chairman of the party Hon. Ekpo Okon has vowed.
Speaking to newsmen in Calabar, the chairman expressed gratitude to the people of the state, INEC and security agencies for the roles they played towards peaceful conduct of the just-concluded general elections.
He said even though his party won 98 per cent of the available offices during the election, it would not be business as usual for the elected officers.
“From the onset of this new dispensation, I will personally ensure that each member of our great party who won election to any of the offices is constantly monitored in order to see his level of efficiency and performance in such office he was elected,” Okon said.
He noted that his party was repeatedly criticized for allegedly deviating from its manifesto, saying the people will not be disappointed this time.
“For those who won election into the National Assembly or state House of Assembly, we want to ensure that whilst in such offices they deliver not only on their electoral promises but work in tandem with our party’s manifesto”, he emphasized.
Okon added that political office holders from the party would be watched like never before and those found wanting would be sanctioned according to party rules.
