An Abuja Federal High Court has fixed May 25 to hear the suit challenging the nomination of  Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Kwara Central Senatorial District in the last National Assembly election. The plaintiff, L’aziz Ayinla Jimoh has sued Saraki alongside the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying he ought to have automatically become the candidate of the party being the only screened and cleared candidate after the winner of the primary election, Isiaka Gold withdrew from the race.

A group known as the “Plateau Central Transparency Group” has rejected the declaration of former governor, Chief Joshua Dariye, as the winner of the Plateau central senatorial zone elections in Plateau State.

INEC had declared Dariye who contested on the platform of the Labour Party as winner of the senate seat for Plateau central.

The group, in a press briefing, said the senate election for the Plateau central zone was marred by irregularities in Bokkos and Kanam local governments which they said were so obvious and confounding that INEC should not have declared Dariye winner.

Leader of the group, Semshak Gompil, challenged INEC to make available to the public ballot papers used in the election, particularly from Kanam and Bokkos local governments and see if its claims are not true.

They urged INEC to cancel the elections for the Plateau central zone because voters there had roundly rejected the former governor at the polls.
