IN a bid to eradicate corruption, especially in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has introduced Systems Application and Programmes, SAP, an Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP, which is designed to add value to life by simplifying its operations. Speaking at the inauguration of the  two committees to  facilitate  implementation, Special Assistance to the MD/CEO of NDDC, Mr Chibuzor Ugwoha, explained that the benefits will affect every aspect of the commission’s operations, in form of quicker and more accurate processing of work packages. According to him, “we believe that more predictable delivery of internal services such as procurement, expert management, human resources management, longer lasting infrastructure and better services delivery to the citizenry will be achieve.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Youth Council (NYC), Mr Opoku Fofie Apraku, has called on African leaders to pay more attention to youth development programmes.

He said this would help channel their energies into productive ventures, and described as unfortunate, the situation where some self-seeking politicians induced and pushed young people into all forms of violence and conflicts.

He said it was important the right environment was created to allow them to pursue academic careers and acquire skills to lead decent and responsible lives.

Mr Fofie was inducting into office the newly elected executive members of the Ewedome Norvisi Haborbor, a local NGO, dedicated to community service, at Atonsu, in Kumasi.

The NYC Director noted the significant role NGOs were playing to bring progress to the people and urged them to continue with the good and also focus on assisting the people to get jobs and fight poverty.

Mr Fofie urged the executives to be committed to their goal of helping the unemployed youth to receive vocational skills to enable them to become economically self-supporting.

Mr Robert Asieni, President of the NGO, said there was the need for the youth to be mentored to uphold the values of discipline, hard work and integrity.
