Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro has not given up hope of finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League.

Spurs are currently in sixth place, seven points behind fourth placed Manchester City. And the Brazilian retains hope that his side can yet return to form and pull off the seemingly impossible, as the north London club have won only one of their last 11 games in all competitions.

“Fourth position for us is difficult but not impossible,” Sandro said, according to The Mirror.

“We want to win all our matches and to be ready if Manchester City fail. Our challenge is to be playing in Europe next season.

“For me, Champions League football is important and I am playing better recently and would like to carry on improving my reputation next season.”

The 22-year-old was also unhappy about his first goal for Spurs having gone down in vain, as Chelsea managed to score two controversial goals to take away three points last weekend.

“I am very unhappy because I scored my first goal for Spurs but it did not secure three points,” Sandro said. “It was unjust that we lost because both of Chelsea’s goals were incorrect.”

He added: “It Scoring the first goal was a very special moment because I have enjoyed playing at Tottenham so much and feel I am developing as a player thanks to the club and my team mates.

“Now we need to rediscover our confidence and belief because the dressing room was affected after the game.”

Tottenham take on Blackpool on Saturday, before locking horns with Manchester City next Tuesday.
