Marca.com reports the ‘Special One’ was to be thrown in among the 1,500 travelling Madrid fans as he is suspended following last week’s dismissal, and thus he cannot take his seat on the bench.
It was expected he would sit in the authorities area as the other options could pose a risk to his security.
Some had considered putting him in a VIP box which would shield him from possible trouble, but all of those have been taken up by sponsors.
The only other option was for him to watch from the hotel where the team is staying, but he cannot communicate with the bench under any circumstances.
Uefa rules prohibit him from using mobiles to call or text the Madrid bench during the game.
