Muammar Gaddafi's forces continued to battle rebels for control of the strategically important Dehiba-Wazin Crossing into the night, as Tunisia protests against intrusions into its territory. Rebels had taken the crossing a week ago, but on Thursday pro-Gaddafi forces attempted to retake it. They were initially successful, pushing opposition forces to retreat to the Tunisian side of the border, leaving the entire frontier in the hands of pro-Gaddafi forces.

Chelsea defender John Terry has stated his desire to remain at the club after making his 500th appearance for the Londoners at the weekend.

The England captain, who reached the milestone in his side’s controversial 2-1 against London rivals Tottenham, reflected on his achievement and said he is aiming to play as many games as possible.

“Looking back, when I was 18, on 30-odd games, I could never have predicted where I am today,” Terry told Sky Sports.

“I’m delighted to hit 500. I’m very proud. I’ve got a great rapport with the fans and I want many, many more games.

“I’ve got three years left on my contract and that’s what I intend to do.”

Terry, 30, who made his Chelsea debut in 1998, also discussed some of the highs and lows of his time at the club.

He added: “My top moment would have to be the Barcelona game when we beat them here and I scored the winner.

“The low point is obviously the Champions League final, missing the penalty.

“But throughout my career I’ve been the most successful captain in Chelsea’s history and that means a lot to me and it’s something I’ll always take with me.”
