Over 100 golfers have so far confirmed their participation in this year’s Northern Province Open tournament teeing off on Saturday in Arusha.Fifty of them are from Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, according to the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) official, Sophie Nyanjera.

Nyanjera said yesterday that the tournament would involve both women and men golfers with handicap of 24 and 18, respectively.”We expect more golfers to register for the tournament in the next two days,” said Nyanjera, adding that preparations for the event were on course.The TGU official said the two-day tournament would take place at the Arusha Gymkhana Club.

The 36-hole event has been sponsored by the Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and counts for Order Merit Points.

Nyangera said they have set aside various prizes for the winners of what promises to be a thrilling tournament.But he fell short of naming the awards, saying it not the right time to make them public.
