Miami Heat basketball star, and minority stakeholder in Liverpool, LeBron James has shown his support for the Merseyside club by wearing a Reds shirt during a post-game press conference.

James, who entered a business partnership with the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group last month, admitted that although his sole aim was securing the NBA championship with the franchise from Florida, he was still keeping tabs on Kenny Dalglish’s men and made reference to their 3-0 victory over Newcastle at Anfield.

Speaking after a victory over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, the superstar spoke of his desire to travel to Anfield in the near future.

He said: “I’m concentrating on this basketball right now.

“But I am following Liverpool. They won a good game on Sunday morning, I know that.

“I am following them from a distance, and hopefully I can get out there and catch a game.

“But right now, this is the only game I’m thinking about.”

The Reds leapfrogged Spurs with the victory over Alan Pardew’s side, with Kenny Dalglish having now secured 29 points in only 14 games to rocket the club up the table.
