The Tema Mantse, Nii Osonga Adjei Krakue II, has imposed a ban on drumming, noise making and funerals in the Metropolis ahead of this year’s Homowo festival.
The ban is a customary one which is put in place every year to enable traditional authorities to perform the necessary rites before celebrations of the Homowo festival begin.
That of Tema took effect from Friday April 29 and is expected to be lifted by May 20.
According to Nii Adjei Krakue II, the ban will affect the usage of microphones, church organs and clapping of hands and other acts that create noise.
He explained that during the period from April 29 to May 20 all bereaved families will be entreated to send corpses that might be buried to their hometowns.
He stated that the stool will send its agents to all communities in the Tema Metropolis to monitor affairs and ensure that nobody flouts the ban.
Nii Adjei Krakue II however stressed that the ban is not meant to curtail any Christian worship and appealed to all Reverend Ministers, pastors, deacons and all who matter to cooperate and make the exercise a trouble free one.
