SSNIT Pensioners Want Allowances Increased

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Pensioners’ Association, have expressed concern about low monthly allowance being paid to them by SSNIT.

At a monthly meeting held on Tuesday April 26 to elect new
executives, members appealed to officials at the SSNIT headquarters to
consider putting their allowance at par with their counterparts under
the Ghana Government Pensioners Association – CAP-30.
They asked various regional executives in the country to do
something about the plight of SSINT pensioners.

Mr James L. Tawiah, Central Regional Treasurer of the
Association, who was at meeting, advised members of the Association to
remain clam, and gave the assurance them that their grievances would
be channelled to the headquarters of SSNIT for consideration.
He swore into office the newly elected executives for a four-year
term of office.

They were Anthony K. Yankson, Chairman; Mr Arthur Baiden,
Vice-Chairman and Mr James A. Baidoo, who was retained unopposed as
Secretary.
The Assistant Secretary position went to Mr Alfred Oppong, Mr
Nooruden I. Donkor, was elected treasurer, Mr Emmanuel Ofori elected
as the Chaplain and Mr Yaw Acheampong was retained unopposed as
porter.

Mr Yankson expressed appreciation to Association for the
confidence reposed in the officers and gave the assurance that new
officers would seek the welfare of members.
