Former Widnes half-back Anthony Thackeray has joined York City Knights for the rest of the season.
Thackeray, 25, was one of four players released by Widnes as they trimmed their squad in preparation for joining the Super League next year.
Knights coach Dave Woods told BBC Radio York: “It’s great for the club.
“He adds a lot of experience and another half back that we probably need. He’ll want to make a mark and get started as quick as possible.”
The former Hull FC and Castleford Tigers player will go straight into the York squad for the game against Dewsbury on Sunday.
