Barcelona will make a formal complaint to Uefa over comments Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho made about Pep Guardiola’s achievements following Barca’s Champions League semi-final win at the Bernabeu.

In a fiery encounter on Wednesday night, Mourinho was sent to the stands after hitting out at Pepe’s sending off for a challenge on Dani Alves.

Mourinho launched a stunning attack on Guardiola at his post-match press conference and suggested there was a refereeing conspiracy in favour of Barcelona.

Barcelona were unhappy with Mourinho’s comments and the Spanish champions called an extraordinary meeting of the board of directors to discuss the matter on Thursday afternoon.

Uefa have already announced they have opened a disciplinary case against Mourinho over his comments and Barcelona have now decided to lodge an official complaint to Uefa over the Real boss and they are considering whether or not to pursue legal action against the Portuguese.

“We want to stand firm when the war of words passes certain limits and we believe Mr Mourinho crossed this line yesterday,” said Barca board spokesman Toni Freixa.

“We are going to present a case to Uefa’s Control and Disciplinary committee against Mr Mourinho for breaking Uefa’s disciplinary code.
