Adado — As the country is still in a state of drought, people are happy right now after spring showers started to fall in parts of Galgudud region in central Somalia.
Rains mostly poured in the town of Adado and villages around it, local residents reported.
Adado, a town about 660 kilometers (410 miles) north of the capital, has been one of the most affected placed by the drought that claimed the lives of many people including toddlers and livestock.
Monsoon showers also reported to have dropped in the areas between Adado town and Gilinsor.
However, central Somalia has been most affected by the drought. People there are bracing for good rainfalls to start in the Hiran, Galgudud and Mudug regions.
At least 30 people, many of them children and elderly, are reported to have died from famine-like conditions in central and southern Somalia only last month.
Much of the country has endured a severe lack of seasonal rainfall for the past three years.
