After several years of waiting, the government has finally picked a Malaysian firm for the Sh200 billion national identification project.We hope the implementation will be speeded up so that the people can enjoy the convenience of easy identification, as the majority have had difficulty in acquiring the alternative, which is the passport.

Dar Es Salaam — Veteran boxer Abdallah Mohamed outpointed Fabian Lyimo on Monday night to snatch the Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) national title.Mohamed, best known to his fans as “Prince Naseem,” beat Lyimo on points in the 10-round fight at Heineken Pub in Temeke District.

Boxing enthusiasts had plenty of fun as both boxers displayed impressive skills and footwork in the well-contested fight.

Mohamed enjoyed an upper hand in the first and sixth rounds, while Lyimo dominated the seventh and eighth rounds before slightly losing steam in the last two rounds to narrowly lose 98-94.

In the undercards, Hassan Mangushi beat Dickson Kawiani on points in the Super bantamweight bout. He won 39-38.

Simon Milanzi laboured to silence Novatus Katyega on points in the light welterweight bout, and Shaaban Mtengela beat Hassan Kidebe on points in the lightweight fight.

The PST president, Emmanuel Mlundwa, said the bouts were part of the body’s plans to promote professional boxing in the country. (Majuto Omary)
