Mogadishu — The regional administration of Benadir region under the transitional federal government of Somalia on Saturday accused Al Shabaab, which the United States of America alleges to be al Qaeda’s surrogate in Somalia, of refusing the reopening the road leading to Bakaraa, Mogadishu’s largest and busiest market.
In an interview with Shabelle Media Network, Abdikafi Hilowle Osman, the secretary of Benadir administration, said that the interim federal government has already permitted the road linking between Mogadishu’s Bakaara market and Dabka junction to be reopened.
Mr. Osman also noted that if Al Shabaab is ready to bury the main deep holes at the center of street, the government will allow access for the people to reach and work in that market.
He called for Bakaara businessmen to talk to Al Shabaab and bring clear decision about how the road could be reopened.
