Stoke City and Sunderland are believed to be interested in adding Hamburg forward Ruud van Nistelrooy to their armoury.
The Dutchman left Real Madrid last summer to join the Bundesliga club, but recently sustained a calf injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until the end of the season.
However, before the injury, the player’s agent had admitted that his client is not looking to renew his contract with Hamburg, which runs out at the end of the season.
And with the 34-year-old potentially available for free, The Mirror reports that Stoke City and Sunderland are interested in bringing the striker back to England.
Van Nistelrooy, the second highest scorer in Champions League history (including qualifying matches) with 60 goals, spent five years at Manchester United between 2001 and 2006, during which time he scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for the club.
