Abductors release Osogbo businessman

An Osogbo businessman, Alhaji Raifu Olaiya, regained his freedom at the weekend, after spending six days with his abductors.

He was kidnapped by four gunmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, last week Sunday.

Olaiya said his abductors dumped him at a forest around 6 pm on Friday. He said he trekked for five hours before linking the Osogbo/Inisha road.

Olaiya refused to say how much he paid as ransom to regain his freedom, but described his abductors as “good guys and victims of the nation’s bad system.”

Olaiya said: “Apart from the psychological trauma, they were good to me. They bought a toothbrush and bottled water for me. They gave me back my handset and monitored my safety till I got to my family in Osogbo.

“They even said they wish they could be part of the thanksgiving they believed I was going to organise after my freedom.”
