According to a statement signed by the National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the vetting process will determine the candidate(s) who qualifies to contest for a parliamentary position in a particular constituency.
VETTING OF PARLIAMENTARY ASPIRANTS
The Vetting for parliamentary aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be held simultaneously across the country between the 26th and 29th of March 2011. All aspiring candidates must subject themselves to the vetting process on the dates specified above.
All Regional Secretariats must communicate the day, time, venue and the group to all aspirants latest by Thursday 24th March 2011, through Constituency Parliamentary Elections Committee (PEC).
Vetting will be conducted by representatives of the National, Regional and the Constituency PEC with Constituency Executives in attendance. The decision of the Vetting Committee shall be known to all vetted aspirants by 31st March 2011. Vetting Committees are to submit written reports on the vetting process to the Regional Parliamentary Elections Committee by the 31st March 2011.
Immediately on completion of the vetting each Constituency PEC shall organise balloting for positions on the ballot paper for the various aspirants.
Officers of the party at all levels should not openly declare or show support for any candidate.
