The Nerazzurri won 2-0 against Samp to keep pace with leaders Milan in Serie A but struggled for large periods of the match, with the hosts playing a defensive game.
Stankovic admitted that winning was difficult and explained so on Inter Channel.
“They had parked a Boeing 777 or a cruise ship in front of their goal,” began Stankovic.
“No, joking aside, Samp had a couple of good chances but we refused to give up.”
“It was a race against time for us but then the goals came,” he continued. “We were patient and did our job, from the start to the end, and on a tough pitch we’ve managed to come away with a great victory.”
Inter are currently second in the league standings with 53 points from 27 matches, two points behind leaders Milan.
