The Executive of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water producers (NASPAWAP) has stated that due to the ever increasing cost of production, due largely to increases in fuel and labour costs, as well as increase in the cost of other inputs, the association has adjusted upward the price of sachet water.

The new price takes effect from March 1, 2011. The above notwithstanding, due cognizance has been given to the recent marginal reduction in utility tariff.

In view of this, NASPAWAP said retail price for a bag of 30 sachets is now GH¢1.50, with effect from 1st March 2011. All regional associations have therefore been directed to ensure that this price ceiling is strictly adhered to, a statement issued by the association and signed by Magnus Nunoo, national chairman, said.

Any future changes in input cost, which would necessitate any adjustment in price, would be duly communicated to all, it added.
NASPAWAP said, in consultation with the Pure and lced Water Sellers Association (PIWSA), they consented to fix the price of chilled sachet water at 10Gp, effective 1st March 2011.

The price of a bag of sachet water was increased just late last year to GH¢1.20. The price of the product has been increased by over 200 percent in the last two years.
