Jerusalem (CNN) — Israeli tank shelling east of Gaza City has injured 11 people on Wednesday, Palestinian security and medical sources said.
Two of the injured people were seriously hurt and three children were among the wounded, the sources said.
The Israel Defense Forces said its soldiers returned fire after an explosive device detonated near troops on the Israel-northern Gaza border and a mortar shell was fired at them.
