THE VOLTA Regional Football Association Chairman, Francis Dogbatsey, is entangled in financial malpractices, according to grapevine reports.
It was gathered that he failed in his presentation of account, which was not audited also, during their last Congress held in the region on November 4, 2010.
Reports from his outfit revealed that since the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, presented a sum of GH¢5000 and two computers to the region in 2007, for the construction of an office to aid in the administration of football, nothing had been done.
The situation, which brought some difficulties in the working conditions of the executives in the region, prompted top three executive members of the region, namely Danquah Wilson, Harry Atutonou and Mr. Doku, to hand in their resignation letters to the GFA Secretariat during the latter part of 2009.
Investigations revealed that Mr. Dogbatsey, who took office in 2006 with a four-year mandate, had his term extended to another year due to the just-ended South Africa 2010 World Cup.
Sources close to the region indicated that Mr. Dogbatsey had also been accused of increasing the number of division two clubs from 48 in 2006 to 54 in 2010 and then 103 recently.
Some clubs such as Fire Babies who failed to compete in the third division last season, had been promoted to play in the division two which will kick off on Saturday January 22, 2011.
According to Abdul Kadiri Aleru, chairman and owner of Ketu Stars of Aflao, Mr. Dogbatsey who doubles as an officer of Electricity Corporation in Ho, had added more teams in the region just to attract more votes as Regional Association congresses draw near.
