PERSONNEL that manned the gates on Wednesday when Kumasi Asante Kotoko played host to BA Stars will not get that opportunity again in future.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko have decided to prevent all those that were at the gates at the Baba Yara stadium on the day from rendering that vital service to the club again. Kotoko Executive Board Chairman Dr. K.K. Sarpong who unleashed the bombshell said he was not happy about what transpired at the gates during the contest.
Kotoko recorded a massive patronage of fans during the game which the Porcupine Warriors eventually won 3-1. According to Dr. Sarpong though the match was massively watched, this was not reflected in the gate proceeds.
Information reaching him, he noted, indicates that there were some illegal activities at the gates and this robbed Kotoko of vital funds. He alleged that those who managed the gates connived with some supporters who paid peanuts to them and entered the stadium.
According to him, with the exception of the Kotoko/Hearts game, the Kotoko/BA clash was the most watched match of the club.
Sadly, he disclosed, Kotoko recorded meager money from the gates due to untoward acts of some selfish people who claim to be die-hard supporters of the club. “I have therefore decided to sack the firm that collected the monies at the gates and I will appoint new people for our next games,” Dr. Sarpong stated.
