JD Fast Food, a fast growing player in Ghana’s hospitality industry, has set itself an agenda to lead in the local tourism industry.
Following its success, the company, which is located on the Kasoa road, is venturing into other parts of the capital to promote local food and modernize the traditional restaurant sector.
A new joint will soon be opened at Dansoman, where over 100 workers will be engaged to serve varieties of local and continental dishes.
Director of JD Fast Food, J. Davis, noted that the development of the tourism industry must be linked to the local food sector.
Speaking at an awards ceremony and beach jam held at the Sankofa Beach Resort at Kokrobite in Accra on Tuesday, he said, “We have decided that we will take another path to see how best we can promote the Ghanaian culture and the Ghanaian food because we believe the Ghanaian has one of the best foods in the world”.
At the ceremony, a numbers of workers who have served the joint for over five years, were given various awards at the ceremony.
It was to recognize and acknowledge their long and meritorious services to the company. The awardees received gifts such as wall clocks, clothes, cash and citation plaques.
Workers who had worked for less than five years but were perceived to have rendered quality customer services were also honoured.
Mr. J. Davis, who disclosed that the vision of JD is to set the pace in the creation of food markets in the tourism industry, commended members of his staff for their hard work, describing them as “my assets who have contributed greatly to the success we have obtained today”.
He advised stakeholders in the hospitality industry to give priority to building the capacities of their human resource to enable them to improve on their level of professionalism.
That, he said, would not only promote the industry in the country, but would also make the sector more competitive in the delivery of quality professional services.
