Ghana star Michael Essien failed to hint at his return to international football after keeping mum in his New Year blog.
The Chelsea ace wrote to the Ghana FA to excuse him from international duties in August to fully recover from a prolonged injury lay-off but he has since failed to name his return date.
Local media reports claimed the midfielder would be available for selection in March for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Congo.
But his latest comments suggest he is nowhere near a Black Stars return.
”Not all resolutions will be kept but one resolution I will be sticking to is helping Chelsea win all the trophies we set out to win at the start of the season,” Essien wrote.
“2011 will also be a year when we carry on with the activities of the Michael Essien Foundation. It was an incredible year last year for the people of Awutu, my hometown. With the help of my partners we were able to make a difference in the lives of so many people and I hope we can carry on in this year.”
Essien picked up an injury to his knee at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and missed chunk of last season.
He was also absent at the Fifa World Cup finals in South Africa.
