Okpotu leads NPL stars to Eagles

As first reported by MTNFootball.com, Lobi Stars striker Tony Okpotu has been invited by Nigeria for next month’s clash against Liberia.

Okpotu netted eight goals as Lobi finished third in the Nigeria Premier League as well as reach the final of this year’s Federation Cup, where they lost to cup holders Heartland.

The young striker only recently trained with the country’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles.

Okpotu is one of several fresh call-ups for the October 13 return leg match against Liberia in Calabar.

Others are Heartland cup winner Brendan Ogbu, Manir Ubale from Kano Pillars and Gomo Onduku of Sharks.

Otherwise, Keshi has kept faith with the core of the players from the domestic league he has worked with since December.
