Manasseh Azure Awuni has descended on Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, over his failed prophecy Manasseh Azure Awuni has descended on Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, over his failed prophecy

Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has descended on the General Overseer of Spirit Life Revival Ministries, Prophet Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, over his failed prophecy concerning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026.

Prior to the election, the man of God had consistently predicted that a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong would emerge as the ultimate winner, claiming that an angel of God had revealed it to him.

In one of his declarations, Prophet Elbernard told Kennedy Agyapong at his church, “The angel said I should tell you face to face that on January 31, 2026, the number you picked during the balloting, which has become your symbol, will also be your position after the election.”

However, after the close of polls, his prophecy failed to materialize.

Prophet ElBernard apologises after failed election prophecy

Reacting to the development, Manasseh Azure took to his social media page on January 31, 2026, posting a picture of the pastor with the caption, “God does not lie.”

Meanwhile, Prophet Elbernard has publicly apologised after his prophecy failed to come to pass.

He had made the prediction through a book, videos and media interviews, declaring that Kennedy Agyapong would be victorious.

Following Saturday’s elections, he admitted his error in a detailed public statement shared via his Facebook page, “That word did not come to pass. I missed it. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness.”

He acknowledged the weight of his public declaration and took full responsibility for his actions, “Because I spoke publicly with prophetic authority, many people trusted my word, and some were affected emotionally, spiritually, and politically. I acknowledge this with humility. I take full responsibility for this prophetic word. I do not blame anyone or shift responsibility. I accept that this prophecy, as declared, failed.”

The prophet also expressed regret to those who acted based on his message, “I sincerely apologise to everyone who trusted my word and was hurt, disappointed, or negatively impacted in any way.”

He added that the experience has caused him to “pause, reflect, and realign myself in accountability and discernment regarding how prophetic revelations are communicated.”

In the end, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana, emerged victorious in the NPP presidential primaries, securing the party’s flagbearer position for the upcoming 2028 general elections.

According to official results released by the Electoral Commission after the close of polls on January 31, 2026, Dr Bawumia garnered 110,645 votes, representing 56.48%.

His closest contender, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, obtained 46,554 votes (23.76%). Dr. Bryan Acheampong followed with 36,303 votes (18.53%), while Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum received 1,999 votes (1.02%). Kwabena Agyapong secured 402 votes, representing 0.21%.

In total, over 211,000 delegates cast their ballots across more than 300 polling centres nationwide in what was described as a keenly contested race to determine the party’s flagbearer for future elections.
