Senator calls for revocation of Adada dam contract

By TONY EDIKE ENUGU—CHAIRMAN, Senate Committee on Works, Senator Ayogu Eze, has petitioned the Minister of Water Resources, Serah Ochekpe, demanding immediate revocation of the contract for the construction of N2.5 billion Adada dam and water treatment plant. Senator Eze,who represents Enugu North senatorial district, said the project located at the Adada River and Obimo in Nsukka local government of Enugu State had been completely abandoned. The project, which ground breaking was performed on June 20, last year has not progressed beyond site clearing, even as grasses had overtaken the entire area earlier cleared.

Adams to multinationals: Move your hqtrs to areas of operation

By Godwin Oghre Sapele—Multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta have been urged to relocate their headquarters to their areas of operation to improve the lives of the coastal people, who have suffered years of neglect and economic degradation as a result of oil exploration. Delta State Special Project Director, Chief Otimeyin Adams, gave the charge while addressing journalists in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of the state,  hours before he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ojoye of Warri Kingdom by His Magesty, Ogiame Atuwatse II, the Olu of Warri. Welbeck doubtful for Manchester United’s title-run in & England’s Euro 2012 warm-up games after sustaining ankle injury

Danny Welbeck is a doubt for Manchester United's remaining two Premier League games of the season, as well as England's two Euro 2012 warm-up fixtures, after leaving the Etihad Stadium on Monday evening using crutches and wearing a protective boot. Magistrate orders journalists not to cover proceedings

By BARTHOLOMEW MADUKWE LAGOS — Less than a month after an Ikeja Magistrate, in Lagos, ordered policemen to beat up journalists covering a matter in her court, a Cele, Ijesa, Magistrate in Lagos, yesterday, barred journalists from covering a matter in her court. She said newsmen can only seat and observe proceedings in court, but warned them not to publish a matter still in her court. The case in question is that between ambulance operators in Mushin and Idi-Araba areas of Lagos, against one Babatunde Kuranga, Chairman, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH’s branch of Non-Academic Staff Union.

Mancini plays down ‘deserved’ Manchester City triumph over United
