Popular DJ and businesswoman DJ Zinhle recently shared a heartfelt tribute to her older sister, Gugulethu Mtshali, calling her the strongest woman she knows. The star took to Instagram to celebrate Gugu as her Ndlovukazi, a Zulu word meaning “queen,” in a campaign that is both stylish and deeply personal.
The post is part of a collaboration between DJ Zinhle, fashion designer Khosi Nkosi, and the Omoda C7 brand. In her message, Zinhle explained the meaning behind the powerful tribute:

In the video posted alongside the message, DJ Zinhle opened up more about what the word Ndlovukazi means to her.
“The word Ndlovukazi to me speaks to strength. It speaks about someone who unites, someone who shows up for others as much as they show up for themselves. It doesn’t mean that you have it all together all the time, but you’re definitely someone that people can rely on.”
She went on to share an important life lesson she learned from Gugu: “The one thing that this Ndlovukazi has taught me about life is to stand by your word and do exactly what you say. She’s always someone who does what they say they’re going to do. It’s really hard to disappoint them because they are so reliable. That is something I have learned from them.”
Zinhle also mentioned that she is the youngest in her family and looks up to Gugu, her older sister, as a source of wisdom and strength.
