Microsoft Defender Preview is released for Windows and Android, but there’s a catch –

Microsoft released a preview version of Microsoft Defender for Android and Windows this week. The program already had a version aimed at corporate users, but now it should reach the broad audience of both the most popular (and vulnerable) operating systems in the world.

This new version allows security management on all devices connected to the same Microsoft account. On the home page, the app displays a summary of the protection status on each linked device, so you can track family members’ laptops or cell phones.

Defender’s dashboard provides a very complete report on the number of applications and links running on Android and files scanned on Windows in the last 24 hours. On the PC system, you can also see the current settings for things like virus and threat protection, ransomware and the like, as well as the history to check past actions.

Protection tool for Windows and Android

Microsoft Defender is an anti-malware tool created by the Windows manufacturer to protect the operating system from digital threats. Although it was dispensable at the beginning of its creation, today the software has matured to the point of delivering a very solid solution in defending machines.

For Android, Microsoft Defender Preview can tell you if you’ve installed a potentially malicious app or visited a website that may have installed unwanted code on your device. It certainly doesn’t have the same effectiveness as an antivirus, but it is a good help for more critical situations.

Although…

The program is only available in the United States for now, but more regions are likely to be contemplated in the future as testing progresses. The app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or the Google Play Store (Android), depending on the desired platform.
