Interim United coach Ralf Rangnick did not appreciate his team’s elimination on penalties in the FA Cup Round of 16 against Middlesbrough (D2) on Friday night. The German technician said after the game that it was the fault of his team, which had failed to capitalize on their many chances. “We should have and easily could have led 3-0 after 45 minutes and even in the second half we missed some great opportunities. Even after they equalized we should have taken the lead. It’s our fault”explained Rangnick.
“In the end, it was decided on penalties, it was also a matter of luck and in the end it was us who lost this match. We are all incredibly disappointed but we can only blame ourselves”, detailed the 63-year-old coach. United who lost 7-8 on penalties after their 19-year-old striker Anthony Elanga missed out.
