‘s first electric racing plane makes maiden flight; see how it was –

Airbus made history and performed the maiden flight of the world’s first 100% electric race plane. The exercise, held in the city of Tonsberg, Norway, had the participation of local pilot Rein Inge Hoff and lasted about 15 minutes, with impressive images captured by the company.

According to Airbus, the aircraft is a Cassit IIIM completely modified to operate with an electric motor. From the video, you can see that the noise level is considerably low, much like that of a domestic fan. But make no mistake: this aircraft is very fast!

In the test, the model reached 333 km/h, but when its development is complete, this mark can reach 400 km/h, the speed expected for the Air Race E competition, an air racing division made only with electric models and that will start in 2023.

Even without revealing the figures involved in the project, Airbus is of fundamental importance in the development of this aircraft. The European giant, by the way, has moved numerous professionals to help with the work, as it has been working in the electrification of aircraft for some time.

It is worth remembering that other companies are also developing electric planes with sporting appeal, such as Rolls-Royce, which holds the speed record with zero-emission aircraft.
