Opera launches dedicated browser for cryptocurrencies, NFTs and Web3 –

Opera has announced the launch of a browser with features aimed at lovers of cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and other digital assets. Opera Crypto Browser has an integrated wallet and support for decentralized applications, in order to facilitate the user experience with the so-called Web3.

The built-in wallet will support dozens of famous blockchains such as the Ethereum network, Bitcoin, Binance, Solana, Polygon and other popular ones. With this, it will be possible to access your cryptocurrencies or NFTs without the need to install extensions, such as Metamask.

Like the most popular competitors on the market, the wallet will also make it possible to buy and sell digital currencies, send assets to others and check your balance in real time. One of the advantages, according to Opera, is a secure clipboard that will prevent access by other apps when copying and placing data.

On the rise at the moment, the so-called Web3 is based on blockchain and focuses on the decentralization of services, as well as the ownership of digital goods such as artwork, music or virtual items. With an accurate encryption system, it is possible to access things like GameFi and the titles play-to-earn, in which you can earn money while playing.

The program will bring a tab named Crypto Corner, with the latest blockchain news and news related to the crypto universe. The proposal is similar to the GX Corner, from the Opera GX browser, dedicated to gamers.

Rising users in the crypto world

Opera’s rival Mozilla announced that it would accept cryptocurrency donations to subsidize the institution’s nonprofit work. After negative reaction from the user base and one of Firefox’s co-founders, Jamie Zawinski, the proposal was suspended.

To avoid similar reactions, Opera assured that it is working to implement a standard called Etherium Layer 2, which is more energy-efficient and with performance superior to existing solutions on the current market.

Vivaldi, on the other hand, made it clear that it does not intend to have tools dedicated to cryptocurrencies. For the company’s CEO, cryptocurrencies are “nothing but a pyramid scheme posing as currency”.

Traditional game companies like Square Enix and Konami have already shown interest in riding the NFT hype train. Although part of the gaming community is divided, it is likely that both will maintain lucrative plans to trade tokens from their main franchises as a way to earn extra income.

Crypto Browser is now available for Android, Windows, and Mac. An iOS version is still in the final stages of completion and should arrive soon for iPhone owners.
